Pursuant to the Directives of IEA-Leadership, U.S. National Released

Owing to Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has released a U.S. national, Dennis Coyle, having been detained for violating the established laws of Afghanistan.The decision follows an appeal by the detainee’s family, which, in view of the auspicious Eid period, requested clemency from the leadership of the Islamic Emirate. Upon review, the Supreme Court of Afghanistan determined that the period of detention already served was sufficient, & he was subsequently reunited with his family in Kabul.This step has been taken on humanitarian grounds & in the spirit of goodwill. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan believes that such actions can help further strengthen an atmosphere of trust between countries, & expresses hope that outstanding issues can be addressed through constructive dialogue & mutual understanding.The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan also extends its appreciation to the brethren nation, the United Arab Emirates, for providing cooperation & facilitation in this process.Ministry of Foreign AffairsIslamic Emirate of Afghanistan
